Curated by Dominique Charlet, a former director of the Sygma agency, and Fabien Charuau, a photojournalist who has been based in India for the last 13-years, This Is Not That, comprises the work of ten artists — Binu Bhaskar, Fabien Charuau, Neil Chowdhury, Pradeep Dalal, Dhruv Dhawan, Soham Gupta, Swapan Parekh, Zubin Pastakia, Brijesh Patel, and Mahesh Shantaram — who represent the key markers in contemporary Indian photography.
Although the styles, approaches, and subjects differ throughout these many works, the under lying theme connecting each of these artists is one that probese a reality that is a fragment of a much larger whole. As the exhibition title suggests, This Is Not That is about those layers of truth hidden under layers of illusion.
